Led by Dr Brenton Schuetz, an experienced General Practitioner with over 30 years of clinical experience, Wauchope Skin Clinic provides dedicated skin cancer assessment and dermatology care for patients across Wauchope, Port Macquarie and the surrounding region.
The clinic focuses on comprehensive skin checks, early identification of skin cancer and the diagnosis and management of a wide range of dermatological conditions within a general practice setting. Patients receive thorough assessment, clear explanation of findings and appropriate follow-up or treatment where required.
If your skin condition is complex, or outside the scope of general practice timely referral to a specialist dermatologist is arranged.
Dr Brenton Schuetz is an experienced General Practitioner with more than 30 years of clinical experience across a broad range of medical settings. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Adelaide and graduated in Medicine from Flinders University in South Australia. He also holds a Master of Family Medicine from Monash University in Victoria.
Dr Schuetz is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
He was recently awarded the Rural Medical Service Award by the Rural Doctors Network in recognition of his long-standing service to the Wauchope community.
Dr Schuetz has worked across all aspects of general practice, including acute care, chronic disease management, emergency medicine, procedural practice and community-based care. He worked in the Wauchope Hospital Accident and Emergency service for many years, managing a wide range of emergency presentations.
Dr Schuetz has extensive experience in skin cancer assessment and the management of common dermatological conditions. Dr Schuetz focuses on careful clinical examination , dermoscopy and evidence based decision making. Most skin lesions and rashes can be safely assessed and managed in general practice while recognising that some conditions benefit from specialist dermatology input.
Dr Schuetz works collaboratively with dermatologists and other specialists to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.
Dr Schuetz has been diagnosing and treating skin cancers since first practising in Wauchope and now focuses more exclusively on skin cancer medicine and dermatology.
His postgraduate training includes dermatology study as part of his Master of Family Medicine, and the Certificate in Primary Care Dermatology through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
This combination of experience and training supports careful assessment, early detection and appropriate management of skin cancer and other dermatological conditions.
